WHEN GOD WAS
A SERPENT

THE LIBRARY OF
VISUAL HEALING BOOKS
VOLUME THREE

Welcome to THE LIBRARY OF VISUAL HEALING BOOKS.
These Vision Books are a contemporary version of illuminated manuscripts - immersive and written in the language of images. They are created in the alchemical lineage of artists as healers and storytellers of the Soul.
I hope The Library can become a sanctuary that allows you to dive deeper into the Original visual energy patterns that underpin the body of Earth.
In this time of a meta-crisis of immense upheaval and dismantling - these ancient patterns hold source energy for our world personally, ecologically and politically.
The patterns contain Origin stories that can allow us access to less tamed parts of ourselves where we can visually remember the wilder origins of our soul and species.
You can become a member of The Visual Healing Library here. With your subscription you will receive a new Vision Book each month in your inbox - which can be downloaded onto your files. You will receive news of online events, Open Studios, including conversations with me and friends about art, healing and spirit.
I deeply appreciate your support through your engagement with my work.
We change the world with our energy and the quality of our attention.
All the blessings and love of Creation.

WHEN GOD WAS A SERPENT comes primarily from a series of paintings Cosmogenesis that visited me in early 2024. At present there are fifty paintings in the Cosmogenesis series. Created on giant sheets of watercolour paper using graphite powder, water, metal pigment dust, inks + Energy.
SHE-the-Serpent has revealed Herself many times through my five decade painting practice. In this series SHE flows with cosmological intelligence through the infinite prismatic structure of DNA spirals continuously unfurling through the ink and water radiating the energy of the beginning of creation.

WHEN GOD WAS A SERPENT
The Great Mother
is shedding Her skins.
Skin by skin,
Fold,
by haggard fold.
She is shucking off the contorted,
distorted,
narrowed-down versions of Herself.
Sloughing off the mean,
thin-as-waxed-paper projections upon HER glorious body which attempt to lame and truncate HER unbound magnificence.
She roils and heaves.
The land quakes, great trees split, glaciers melt, the oceans swell...
Until
SHE glistens renewed.
We are in waiting on the slate-sharp edge
of a precipice
as SHE reveals Herself,
scale,
by luminous
scale.
It won't be pretty.

Alicia Enciso Litschi writes with deep reverence for the Mexican Goddess - Coatlicue - She-of-the-Serpent-Skirt.
"Coatlicue is one of the primordial mothers. She goes all the way back to the beginning of this world, when it is said she was seen sweeping up the dust on the top of Coatepec, Serpent Mound.
Coatlicue is said to be the Mother of All the Gods. Mother of Life and Death. She-of-the-Serpent-Skirt. Many say she is the ancient rootstock out of which arose Tonantzin, Earth Mother, and all the mothers thereafter, including Corn Mother...
COATLICUE: Housed in Mexico’s Museo Nacional - this 9-foot-tall stone monument of She-of-the-Serpent-Skirt towers over all who encounter Her.
I catch a glimpse of Coatlicue when I am 17 years old, standing wide-eyed in the middle of Mexico’s Museo Nacional, staring at the towering 9-foot-tall stone monument of She-of-the-Serpent-Skirt. Her statue depicts her decapitated with two rattlesnake heads emerging from her neck where her head once was. She is adorned with a necklace of alternating human hearts and hands. Her skirt is made of jade and interwoven with rattlesnakes. There is a human skull at her waist, and she has the talons of an Eagle.
Gazing up at her, I feel an unmistakable pulsing in my feet. "
